All members of the German Genealogy Group are invited to submit a listing of the surnames they are researching to Mark Waldron .
Non-members may inquire about a surname found in the Surname Database by
contacting Mark Waldron
.
If you find a surname in the list that is of
interest to you, you can send him a query about that surname.
He will then send your query to the GGG member who submitted the
surname. The GGG member may then
contact you to share
whatever information he or she may have regarding
that family. To print out a surname submission form, click here. The German Genealogy Group Surname List is a compilation of the surnames submitted by members of the group. It may be used to contact other members who are interested in the same surnames or geographic regions. You must be a current member to submit surnames to the list Non-GGG members please note: We are sorry, but are NOT able to do any research on anyone's ancestors. Our service consists solely of checking non-member surnames against our Surname List to see if a GGG member is researching the same surname. If there is a match, we will then forward the query on to the GGG member whose surname is in our Surname database. The German Genealogy Group Surname List is a compilation of the surnames submitted by members of the group. It may be used to contact other members who are interested in the same surnames or geographic regions. GGG members should log-in to the Member area to see contact information. The Surname List is made available for review at the German Genealogy Group monthly meetings and can also be viewed at the Plainview Family History Center, in addition to appearing on the GGG web site. GGG member surnames which
you are researching, or for which you have information, may be submitted
using the form enclosed in the New Member Packet or by printing the form
from the Surname Database page. If you have a long list of surnames please
use the downloadable Excel form to record your information, and then email
the completed file to Mark. The surnames
must be from a
German-speaking country or region, or of Germanic origin in the Please provide surnames only -- NO first names. Names and places should be spelled exactly as you would like it to appear in the list. Please print clearly. An attempt will be made to enter the information to match as closely as possible to the member’s submittal form. However, some information may be modified, abbreviated, or combined in order to fit the constraints of a structured list such as this. Submitters are encouraged to check their own entries in the surname list on the web page and in the Surname Book at GGG meetings.
